About Us

Who we are

The Institute for Strategic Policy (ISP) is an international think tank based in Bangkok, Thailand. We focus on articulating policy recommendations to governments, corporates and social organisations with a variety of strategic planning tools.

ISP provides thought leadership and policy strategy in a wide range of areas, including geopolitical, geoeconomics, international business strategy, climate change, civil affairs, national and regional diplomacy and security.

By fostering dialogue, research, critical thinking and analysis, ISP seeks to contribute to the development of informed and effective policies that address the complex challenges facing the region and the world.

First established under the name Center for Strategic Policy in May 2025, the non-profit think tank has since earned the “foundation’ status in May 2026.

ISP’s inaugural Board of Advisors comprises eminent experts in the areas of foreign affairs, regionalism, economics, trade and business, civil society and communications.

Disclaimer: The Institute for Strategic Policy operates as an authorized division under the Institute for Strategic Policy Foundation, a registered non-profit organization established in accordance with the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. The Foundation is officially registered under Registration No. Kor Thor 3502, dated April 8, 2026, pursuant to Section 115 of the Civil and Commercial Code. All information, research, publications, and activities conducted by the Institute are dedicated solely to public benefit, academic development, and strategic policy advancement, maintaining strict neutrality without any commercial motives or political affiliations.

Message from ISP Executive Director

It is with great pride to introduce to you the Institute for Strategic Policy Foundation (ISP), a think tank on geopolitics, geoeconomics and emerging global challenges. We’re foremost a policy advocate research institute strive on “how to” get optimal policies through government apparatus, civil organisations and corporations.

Based in Bangkok Thailand, ISP aims to contribute to the development and strengthening of informed and effective policies in Southeast Asia and beyond in an, as you all know, increasingly challenging regional and global environment.

We believe that fostering research, dialogue, and collaboration, ISP seeks to become a leading voice on issues that matter most to the region and the world.

Our core values as a non-profit entity is magnetized by the make-up of Board of Advisors with eminent and experienced personalities in diplomacy, economics and business, regionalism, and communication see our people. We can draw on a network of experts on an array of subjects matter to the well-being of the people in the region to fulfil our mission.

Finally, our success must be measured by getting the cutting-edge practical policy recommendations through, priorities accepted and trigger effects inclusive.

Our Patrons

In order to enable the Institute for Strategic Policy (ISP) to effectively commence its operations, the Institute received a generous endowment from former Deputy Prime Minister M.R. Kasemsamosorn Kasemsri, who prior to his appointment to the position of deputy prime minister, served as Minister for Foreign Affairs. A career diplomat by training, M.R. Kasemsamosorn had an illustrious career as the first Ambassador of Thailand to the People’s Republic of China after the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He also served as the Ambassador of Thailand to the US and Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

Deputy Prime Minister Kasemsamosorm received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Economics from the University of Cambridge. He is also a direct descendant of HRH Prince Devawongse Varoprakar, the son of King Rama IV and half brother of King Rama V, who was considered to be the founding father of the modern-day Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

The work of the Board of Directors will be supported by the Board of Advisors, comprising of distinguished and experienced individuals who would make themselves available to ISP as required. The Board of Directors provides the overall policy direction for ISP, implementation of which is overseen by the ISP Executive Committee. The Executive Director of ISP ensures efficient management and operation of the research team and administrative staff. The operation and projects of ISP are funded through a combination of grants, donations, and revenue from research and consulting services.
